Hi - My grandmother, Adella Ida Koberstein, is a sister to Waclow Koberstein. My grandmother came from Poland to Canada in about 1906. I cannot find her exact passage because she used another girls documents, who decided at the last minute not to come with her family. She married my grandfather in 1908 in Winnipeg, Canada. I have a copy of their marriage registration form that states her father is Christian Koberstein. My Dad (still living at age 87) wrote up a history of his parents about 25 year ago. This lists her parents and sisblings.Erma Koberstein Bartruff (now deceased) was my Dad's first cousin and she visited Poland and Germany in the late 1970's I think, or early 1980's and visited some family, there was an uncle or aunt still alive. Unfortunately, I don't have any details.
I recently found a website in Poland and was able to find relatives on my Stermer side of the family in the church records there. I have not had time yet to look for my Koberstein relatives.
How are you connected? Who are your Koberstein ancestors and where did they live? We don't know much about this part of the family.
Thanks,

Hi - I looked at your rootsweb info. for Waclaw. My grandmother Adella and her older sister Brunslava were borth to Christian and Shepke Harms. Shepke died and Christian then married Julianna who was Shepke's sister. So Waclaw is a 1/2 brother + cousin to my grandmother. To our knowledge Adella and Waclaw are the only ones to come to Canada/USA. Infact, my grandparents had purchased their farm in Rainier, OR and helped Waclaw come over. He purchased a farm next to theirs and when he went into WWI he sold the land to them.
My grandmother spoke German and it is thought that some generations earlier the family moved from Germany to Poland. I have nothing to support this and nothing on Christians siblings or parents at this time.
If there is a connection to other Kobersteins in the US or Canada it would be farther back I think.
Thanks for your work.
