Koberstein Family Connections (Theories)
In most genealogical programs a single line of related individuals are recorded. However, the work that is in progress here is finding information on all Kobersteins. As this information is collected it will, by necessity be fragmented into "lines". As research proceeds, eventually lines will be able to be collected. Because of this each "line" is refered to by its root individual. A root individual will be the Koberstein name fartherest back on the main line. When connections are made a new root individual will emerge as the root of the combined lines. As research theories are put together they will be placed here. The new root individual will be listed followed by the other lines root individual's that are incorporated in this theory. Click on the New Root Individual's name to see the data.

Also, now including information from a book "Eighteenth century emigrants from German-speaking lands to North America. Vol. I The Northern Kreichgau" by Annette Kunselman Burgert which quotes original records in Kirchebuch (KB) records from Zusenhausen, Daisbach and Gauangelloch Lutheran churches. Hans Georg's father Jacob and mother Anna Marie from the International Genealogical Indes (IGI) are now connected in. |
| Koberstein in Koltschen | I have known for some time that the Bertha Koberstein had an autograph book, from a trip she took back to germany and two of the signatures in it were from Koltschen. Recently information on a Koberstein line that immigrated into Canada has been contributed to this site. This line is from Koltschen, Brandenburg, Neumark, Prussia. This is probably not coincidental and a connection is probable. Proof of this connections awaits further research and information. |
| Christoph Koberstein | Ludwig (Louis) Sr. who immigrated in August 1856 via New York, bought property in Marquette county Wisconsin. There were other Kobersteins in the area, which are suspected to be family members. In the book Koberstein - Genealogie a Ludwig is mentioned on page 85 as the son of Christoph Koberstein and Anna Elise nee Ikert. It is a matter of current research if these two Ludwig's are one and the same. Also a sister, Susanna is mentioned. No other family members are given. This family was found by the author Edith Schütte in the Polish archives. After consulting with her, it seemed possible that Ludwig (Louis) Sr. and this individual could be the same. This is not proven at this time. Also two other contemporaneous individuals in Wisconsin are suspected as being brothers of Ludwig. Martin Koberstein, has been proven to a brother to Ludwig Sr. Johann Koberstein is a suspected relation but nothing proven. Research will be required to prove this possible relationship. Martin had a land grand in the same township as Ludwig. Johann is merely contemporaneous and his decendents populated Baraboo, Sauk county, Wisconsin, which is just south of Marquette county. From this line many of the Madison, WI Kobersteins decend. |
