Death of Mr. F.W. koberstein
Mr. Frederick Willima Koberstein, of Rongotea, died at his home yesterday, at the age of 94 years. Arriving in the district in 1876, he was one of the pioneers of the district, and literally carved his home out of the bush. He was a good citizen, and had the respect of all his neighbors. Of a strong constitution, he had never known what sickness was, and it was only three day before his death with old age telling its tale that he was confined to his bed, and he peacefully pssed away yesterday full of years and honours. He leaves a family of five sons and one daughter. The sons are: Augustus (Taikorea), William (Colyton), Amco (patea), Carl (Queensland), Fred (Wellington), and Watta (Shannon); and the daughter, Mrs C. Hartley (Wellington).
Headstone at Halcolme Cemetery reads: "In loving memory of our dear mother Louise, wife of William Koberstein Snr, born 1831 died 1907."
