Terry, I just had my DNA done through MyHeritage & it is confirmed ... you are my 2nd cousin once removed!! It is amazing ... We only share 0.3% of our DNA but our shared direct line is only 2 generations back!! Your Great Grandparents were Ludwig Koberstein Jr and Caroline Hoffmann (They are my G-G Grandparents). Your Grandfather was their son Albert Mandrow Koberstein Sr and my Great Grandfather was their son Samuel Robert Koberstein (married Hannah. Their daughter, Lillian Gladys Koberstein was my Grandmother. Her daughter, Dona Reichert, by Lee Reichert, was my mother.
Did you do any additional DNA tests or just the standard one from MyHeritage? I still don't know quite how this works.
Do you have any more (or know where I might go to find it) info on Lillian Gladys? Kind of "up in the air" about name of 2nd spouse Opal Vaughn or Vaughn Opal?
Thanks - Your confirmed cousin,
Lalinda Cardenas Collins

Sharon Kay DETHLEFS

Sharon K. Koberstein
Sept. 14, 1939 - Nov. 15, 2012
A celebration of life will be held for Sharon Koberstein, 73, of North Bend
at a later date. Private cremation rites will be held at Ocean View Memory
Gardens Crematorium in Coos Bay.
Sharon was born Sept. 14, 1939, in Hillsboro to Harvey and Olive (Scott)
Dethlefs. Sharon passed away peacefully with family at her side Nov. 15,
2012, in North Bend.
Sharon's fondest lifetime memories were those her childhood and time spent
with her family and dear friends. Sharon's "Mother and Daddy" (as she
affectionately called them) were the cornerstones of her life. Sharon
possessed infinite courage and strength of character that are the enduring
qualities of her life. Known as "Sis" to her brothers, Harve and Doug, she
adoringly shared a lifelong bond with each of them. Sharon immensely enjoyed
reminiscing about the time spent with her brothers and friends in the close
knit community surrounding her childhood home in Gaston.
Sharon married the love of her life, Cecil Koberstein, July 5, 1957 in Gaston
while Cecil was a student at Oregon State University. After graduation they
moved to Coos Bay with their two young daughters. From this special time in
Corvallis Sharon forever became a Beaver at heart. We will never forget her
animated, but often repeated loving call out, "Cecil!" Sharon proudly
answered to the title devoted wife and loving mom, grandma and
great-grandma.
Sharon was a very successful working mom who anchored the family business
for almost 50 years, while raising her three young daughters, Debra, CeCe
and Kim. Always the consummate planner and organizer, Sharon was  a pioneer
of her generation who helped set the bar for future working mothers and
always managed to somehow find time for her favorite hobby < shopping. Ever
the matriarch of the family, Sharon was happiest when family and friends
come together at her home, at a camping or hunting outing or some other
special gathering. Most recently, Sharon was able to joyously celebrate and
early Thanksgiving with four generations of the family lovingly by her side.
Sharon will forever be a part of the extraordinary memories of our lifetime.
Sharon also distinguished herself in the community as a member of the first
group of women admitted to the Elks fraternal organization, eventually
becoming the exalted ruler of the Coos Bay Elks Lodge during their 100th
year anniversary. Sharon tirelessly gave her time to many charitable
activities and was most passionate about the Lodge's annual Children's
Christmas Party, Snack Pack and Most Valuable Scholar programs.
Sharon is survived by her dearly loved husband, Cecil L. Koberstein Jr. of
North Bend; daughter, CeCe Rose of North Bend; daughter, Debra Koberstein of
Kent, England; daughter, Kim Greene of Coos Bay; brothers, Harve Dethlefs of
Vernonia and Douglas Dethlefs of Forest Grove; grandchildren, Gerard,
Amanda, Connor and Koby; and great-grandchild, Kamden.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Olive Dethlefs.
Memorial contributions may be made in Sharon¹s honor to the Coos Bay Elks
Lodge Scholarship Fund, 265 Central Ave., Coos Bay, OR 97420.
Arrangements are under the direction of North Bend Chapel,  541-756-0440  .
