Hi Terry,

Last April you inquired about your father's flying before the war at Hillsboro or Long Field.  At that time I searched the CPTP log but did not see the name Koberstein.  However, since then, I discovered references to the Koberstein Brothers (se ad below) and Albert Koberstein.

Not certain if this is your Dad or not, but would really appreciate any info you can give me about this ad.  I found it in the Hillsboro Argus.  The Koberstein Brorthers and Hap Oslund took out several ads after the war when the GI Bill was in full swing.

I also picked up this paragraph from the September 7, 1937 Hillsboro City Council minutes:

"Mr. Ed Ball appeared before the countil requesting a lease on the airport for the Hillsboro Aviation Club Inc. now being incorporated.  Mr. McGee presented to the council an application of Albert Koberstein, Gaston, Ore.  who also wanted to lease the airport.  A motion was made by Wells at the request of the Hillsboro Aviation Club Inc. for a lease on the airport be granted and the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the lease.  The motion was seconded and carried."  Evidently, the Hillsboro Aviation Club won that one.

Does this help?  Let me know if you can add any context to all this.  I would like to have it for the book.
