Marriage date approximated as 1900 because the were married 0 years in the 1900 cencus. Marriage place is probably Oregon using the same logic.

Editor note, can't be sure if this is this Fredrick or Fredie. At first glance it looks like it would not be this one but the girl born on March 2nd may be this one with the paper making the error of saying it was a son.Died of stroke

There was much confusion regarding the birth location for Albert but it has now been determined to be Elkton, South Dakota with good reliability.

NEWS-TIMES, Forest Grove, Oregon December 5, 1957 article regarding 50th
wedding anniversary:"Gaston Couple Feted Friday on Anniversary
Gaston - Friends and relatives gathered in the Pythian hall at Gaston Friday to honor Albert and Mildred Koberstein on their 50th anniversary. Their wedding was in Vancouver, Wash., in 1907, and their first home was in Portland where he drove the horse-drawn bus for the Eaton hotel.
Later Mr. Koberstein took his first mail route in Portland with a wagon traveling up Kings Heights to Cedar Mills. After five years they came to Gaston community where they have lived ever since. For 34 years he carried the mail on a rural route out of Gaston, and the older residents remember his many extra services and the rough roads he managed to get over every day.
The family now consists of four girls and two boys grown and with families of their own. They are Mrs Veta Hardebeck of Gaston, Mrs. Eileen Hill of Montana, Mrs. Mildred Whitmore of Hillsboro, Mrs. Alice Willis of California, Albert Koberstein Jr. of Depoe Bay and Leonard Koberstein of Gaston. There are 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The program was put on by the grandchildren Darold and Marvin Willin played horn numbers, and Carol Whitmore gave a piano solo.
Mrs Koberstein wore a dark silk printed dress and had an orchid corsage brought to her by her sister, Sarah. She had three of her sisters at her reception, Mrs Sarah Gildersleever of Toledo, Mrs. Marion Seydell of Portland and Mrs. Fern Wilder Montesano of Washington. She regretted that her older sister could not het her for the occasion.
Asked about her hobbies Mrs. Koberstein replied that grandchildren seemed to take up a great deal of time, and crocheted rugs and lace were nice to make when she had time. The day before the reception which was Thanksgiving, there were 35 to dinner at the house.
The couple received many gifts. The anniversary cake was appropriately decorated, and after Mr. and Mrs. Koberstein made the first cut, it and the punch bowl were presided over by two of the daughters.
Mr. and Mrs. Koberstein are charter members of the Knights of Pythias and Phthian Sisters lodges of Gaston and of the Odd Fellows. All of these groups assisted with the reception.
Two of Mr. Koberstein's brothers, Sam of Cherry Grove and Elford of Portland were among the guests at the reception."

E-mail from A. Berger dated 10/4/99:
Hello again,
Your work has been quite extensive on the Koberstein line.
What I have now is Anna Elizabeth Koberstein born 8 Jan. 1897
Marquette Co. Died 5 Sept 1965 Her parents : father - William Koberstein Born 2 Jun.1878 died 31 Oct 1934. mother - Emilia Sophia Fabert born 5 Mar.1860 Marquette Co. WI. died 7 Nov. 1905 William's parents Father Martin Koberstein born in Prussia, naturalized 24 May 1870 mother Wilheminia Schauer ( nicknamed Minnie) born in Prussia. You probably aren't interested in this lineage but I have enjoyed searching your site.and 8/21/99:
Hi Terri,
The Anna I was looking for was William Koberstein's daughter. She was born in Rio, Wisc. 1885 I believe William's father was Martin Koberstein. This info was passed on to me by Anna's granddaughter. I plan to check out you website to see
any comparisons. Thanx.....and 5/1/99:

>Hi,
I am not sure if you recieved my e-mail.
I am interested in Koberstein also and recieved you e-mail . The Koberstein. I am referring to was married to Hugo Berger. Her name was Anna. They lived in Rio. Do you know if there is a connection? Sorry for the delay in responding as I had some difficulties. Please
let me know if you have anything on her. Thank you.1900 Cencus Cards for William Koberstein household listed birth date as Jan 1891 in Wisconsin.

Terry,I have dug out a letter I had received from Jean Pierce in which she had
listed the info I sent to you, but it looks like I goofed and got on a wrong
line. Ernestine Wilhelmina Fabert was born 5 Dec 1855 at Zachsburg, married
1874 to Gustav J. Zlomke and died 17 Dec. 1936. Ameilia Sophia Fabert was
born 5 March 1860 Marquette Co., WI, married 29 March 1878 to William
Koberstein and died 7 Nov 1905 at Packwaukee, WI. Sorry about the confusion
and glad you caught it.I also found info now regarding Anna Elizabeth Koberstein
b. 8 Jan 1897 Packwaukee, WI (from family group sheet from J. Pierce)
m. 10 Dec 1910 (this info from Hugo Berger's obit - Anna would only have
been ` 13??) (also from family group sheet from J. Pierce)
d. 5 Sept 1965 burial at Bonnet Prairie Cemetery, Rio, WI (from J. Pierce)Also, in the body of the letter referred to above, Jean had this to say:
"I'll try to sort our the Fabert info for you. My Grandma Berger - Anna's
mother was Amelia Fabert married to William Kobestein (spelling?) March 29,
1878 at Harrisville, WI. Amelia died Nov 7, 1905 and is burried at the Town
of Lawrence Cemetery near Westfield. Wm died 31 Oct 1934 and is buried there
also. However, the tombstone says Kobstin - not Koberstein. It's really a
pretty cemetery - on a hill overlooking a small lake. I've been there
several times." Hope this helps as it's all I have. Now, a question for you - do you have an e-m address for A. Berger? I saw a
posting for that person but have never been able to contact. Perhaps an e-m
address change following the posting I saw as my mail comes back undelivered. As I think I've mentioned, Jean doesn't have e-m. I took the liberty of
making copies of a couple pages from your web site and am mailing those to
her this morning.DeLorris Grueneberg Rekoske

I am in the process of adding and reconciling it with data I have. I have started with Amelia or Emelia Fabert. My records are listed below with sources:
Here are differences I have noted:
Amelia or Emelia Fabert
Birth: we have the same date of 05 March 1860
death: you have 17 Dec 1936 wheras I have 7 Nov 1905
Possibly I misread your e-mail and you meant this death date for Anna Elizabeth. Is that so?
If yes then I have information from A. Berger in an e-mail dated 10/4/99 wherein
she indicated a death date of 7 Nov. 1905Maybe my whole problem is misunderstanding which dates go with which person. Could you clarify which dates go for Anna Elizabeth and which for Amelia or Emelia Fabert. Thanks.
