[The] reunion took us back to a time when we were ready to create lives for ourselves based on the values we learned at EHS. Now we looked at our dreams through the beautiful wisdom-colored glasses we've earned. -- Jane Koberstein Morgan '57

FAMILY PLANS TRIPLE PARTY EACH NOV. 27

Byline: By RENEE C. PRICHARD / Capital Times Staff Writer

For some strange reason, the stork always visits the Koberstein family on the same day. Helen and Joe Koberstein's baby daughter Anne was born Monday, Nov. 27, but this bundle of joy deserves more than your standard birth announcement.

Here are the facts: Anne was born at St. Marys Hospital at 12:54 p.m. Monday, weighing 8 pounds, 7 1/2 ounces and measuring 20 inches long.

Now for the strange part: Nov. 27 is also the birthday of her father, who was born in 1947 - and to top that, Nov. 27 is the  day Anne's big sister Natalie was born in 1987.  All three were born naturally, without inducing labor, in the  afternoon.

According to Ken Syke, spokesman for St. Marys, a call to the math department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison  reveals that the probability of three people in the same family being born on the same calendar day is approximately 1 in 48 million.

``Natalie was born on my husband's 40th birthday, and that was a good way for him to forget turning 40,'' Helen says, and baby Anne is a great way for him to forget turning 42.

Helen says she has no idea how they'll fit all the candles onto one cake, but adds laughingly, ``Maybe we'll just have to take a whole week to celebrate.''

MADISON - Joseph Frederick Koberstein III, age 67, was born to Joe and Olga Koberstein on Nov. 27, 1947, in Madison, and died on March 28, 2015, at Agrace HospiceCare, after his battle with cancer.

He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps upon graduating from Madison East High School in 1965, and served bravely in Vietnam. Joe was an avid outdoorsman, and especially loved trout fishing, and turkey and deer hunting. His hunting buddies appropriately nicknamed him "Turkey Joe", for which Joe was both grateful for the special recognition, and amused by the humorous way his hunting buddies utilized the nickname.

Along with his dedication to his professional career at Webcrafters, where Joe worked for 39 years, he enjoyed supporting the Green Bay Packers and cooking delicious, spicy meals for friends and family. After retirement, Joe volunteered his time at DreamBikes, which he praised throughout the final years of his life. Joe constantly expressed his love for his family, his dogs, and cycling, and would proudly talk about them to anyone willing to listen.

Joe is survived by his children, Joe IV (Michelle), Laura (Miguel), Natalie, Anne, and Elizabeth; his grandchildren, Joey V, Dakota, and Sloan; his mother, Olga; his sister, Susanne (Fred); his girlfriend, Barb Klipp; and his good friend, Bill Furbish. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph F. Koberstein Jr.; and his brother, Donald.

A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2015. Visitation will held at the funeral home from noon until the time of the service on Sunday. Burial will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2015.

"We love you Joe, may you be peaceful, joyful and on your dream bike racing through the clouds."

This program will continue to reach new heights with her in the setting position. She has an incredibly quick release, plays great defense, has an amazing serve and plays well above the net.
