Leaves Wife and Three Children
Edward J. Koberstein, who for the past four years has rented the Fred Rodd farm south of this city, met his death at Baraboo last Friday when an auto he was driving became unmanageable and he was thrown out on a cement side walk, his death being instantaneous.
The cause of the accident is ascribed to the fact that in making a turn his car suddenly ran into some loose sand that had been washed down on the street from a hill, by a recent rain. As he was still in the city limits of Baraboo it is not thought that he was running exceptionally fast, and as there was no one with him, the exact facts will probably never be known.
The deceased came to this locality from Baraboo four years ago and rented the Fred Rodd farm south of town, where by hard work and economy he managed to lay aside a little money and on this very trip in which he met his death, had purchased a farm on his own in his old home neighborhood near Baraboo, where he was raised and where his mother, brothers and sisters still live.
Mr. Koberstein was born near Baraboo, in January 1894, marrying in his home community near that city in 1913. He leaves a wife and three children. The children are Oliver aged six, Vergil, aged five, and Elenor, aged three. A mother, five brothers and one sister also mourn his loss. His father, before him also met his death by accident having been killed by a runaway team.
The funeral was held in Baraboo on Monday afternoon.
The deceased was universally respected by all who knew him here being a man of steady industry and sterling honesty. His family has the heartfelt sympathy of the whole community.
