1Epmail from Joel Hochanadel dated 5/13/2000, 31 Aug 2000, In My possesion. "Terry,
First, let me commend you on your site, it is one of the most complete,
thorough genealogy sites I have seen. I have done a lot of research on my
father's side of the family (Hochanadel) but also work from time to time on
my mother's side.
I think I can fill in some pieces on your Koberstein information for Ohio.
My mother is Jean Marie Koberstein Hochanadel from Toledo. Her father is
Francis Lambert Koberstein, son of Anton (Anthony G.) Koberstein, son of
Johann and Matilda.
You have a link at
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/koberstein/archive/gra.htm that
theorizes about the emigration of Johann Koberstein and Mathilda Herbert
Koberstein - looking at my information, I think I can safely confirm that
for you. Johann was my gg grandfather and was married to Matilda Herbert.
Johann was the son of Johann Koberstein and Maria Katharina (maiden name
unknown). Johann I died and Maria Katharina remarried a Friderich Muller
and had subsequent children. However, their son Johann II is reported to
have emigrated later. Johann and Matilda had two children in Germany (Rosa
and Anna) whod died as young children after the family came to America. The
next children were reported to have been born in America, so the emigration
date of 3 June 1883 makes sense.
Looking at the genealogy that was prepared by my mother's first cousin,
Kenneth Koberstein, I can confirm most of the obituaries and other
information you have for the Kobersteins from Toledo.
I tried to connect my Kobersteins with Martin Koberstein in your lineage
chart, but am unable to make connections.
If you would like more information about the ancestors of Johann and
Matilda, please let me know, I can fill in a lot of gaps for you.
Again, I thank you for all of the information that I was able to glean from
your site and am curious to know how the Toledo Kobersteins relate to the
Wisconsin Kobersteins.
Sincerely,
Joel Hochanadel.".2John Koberstein death, 19 Jul 1928 death index, 1928, 12 Feb 2000, Toledo-Lucas County Public Library Local History and Genealogy Department, 2744 - 110th Street, Toledo Ohio (Temporary), 325 Michigan St., Toledo, Ohio (permanent).
