A memorial service will be held June 5 for Gustave "Dusty" Koberstein of Eugene, who died June 1 of age-related causes. He was 86. Koberstein was born Aug. 14, 1916, in Bismarck, N.D., to Gustave and Christine Hart Koberstein. He married Louise Allen in Eugene on March 7, 1942. She died Sept. 22, 2002. He grew up in Hebron, N.D., and moved to this area in 1939. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He owned Custom Television Repair and continued to operate it until three weeks ago. He enjoyed music from the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s, writing music and playing the ukulele. He also enjoyed writing poetry, and trailer camping trips. Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Anne of Portland and Marilyn Parra of Eugene; a son, Allan of Salem; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Thursday's service will be held at 2 p.m. at 1065 River Road in Eugene. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Portland Kateri Circle.

Louise Koberstein
A memorial service will be held Sept. 28 for Louise Mae Koberstein of Eugene, who died Sept. 22 of complications from surgery following a stroke. She was 80. Koberstein was born Aug. 11, 1922, in Denver to Lee and Gladys Allen. She married G.P. "Dusty" Koberstein in Eugene on March 7, 1942. She lived in Colorado and Las Vegas before moving to this area in 1937. She attended St. Mary Catholic School in Eugene. Koberstein was a homemaker and co-owned a business with her husband. She enjoyed family activities, and her interests included world current events. Koberstein was a member of the Legion of Mary. Survivors include her husband; a son, Allan of Salem; two daughters, Marilyn Parra of Eugene and Kathryn Anne of Portland; two sisters, Nancy Green of Camas, Wash., and Jean Sutton of Sacramento; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Saturday's service will be at 1 p.m. at Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maryknoll Fathers & Brothers.
