Alberta A. Elpers, 79, of Haubstadt, IN, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. She was born to the late Emery and Henrietta (Buttman) Koberstein on April 14, 1935 in Haubstadt, IN. Bert as she was known to her many friends, was a beautician in Haubstadt for many years. She was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt, a member of the Haubstadt Daughters of Isabella Chapter 151, and was an avid golfer. Besides her parents she is also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Elmer and Alvin Koberstein. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Kenneth Elpers, 2 sons, Duane (Peg) Elpers and Lynn Elpers both of Haubstadt, IN, daughter in-law, Cheryl Elpers of Haubstadt, IN, 7 sisters, Thelma Seib of Princeton, IN, Sister Elizabeth Ann Koberstein of Oklahoma City, OK, Virginia Wilzbacher of Evansville, IN, Lila Simon of Haubstadt, IN, Edith Baehl of Haubstadt, IN, JoAnn Heyer of Pembrook Pines, FL, Norma Purer of Littleton, Colo., and 4 brothers, Emory, Linus, Marion, and Merle Koberstein all of Princeton, IN, 4 grandchildren, Jessica (Jason) Hoesli, Jacob, Brant, and Evan Elpers. Also 1 great grandchild which is due in August. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt, IN at 11:00 AM with Fathers Tony Ernst and Brian Emmick the co-celebrants, burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, May 12, 2014 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 pm at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, IN and again from 9:00 AM until service time at the church on Tuesday. Alvin L. Koberstein, 86, of Princeton passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Specialty Select Hospital in Evansville. He was born April 30, 1927 in Haubstadt, Indiana to Emery & Henrietta (Bultman) Koberstein. He lived in the Princeton since 1948, moving here from Hazleton.
He was the founder in 1955 of Koberstein Trucking. He was also the founder of A & T Concrete. He was a partner of H&W Nut and Bolt in Indianapolis, and the owner of Koberstein Vending. He was involved in the Old Town Development and active with the D.A. Keimer Christmas Fund. He served on the Board of Directors of both the Citizens Bank of Haubstadt and the Farmers National Bank of Princeton. He was a member of the Elks BPOE 634, the K of C, and the Moose, all of Princeton. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Princeton, IN
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy (Sherman) Koberstein; 2 sons, Richard, Sr. (Donna) and Kenny (Shirley) Koberstein; 2 daughters, Teresa (Stanley) Dove and Cathy (J.R.) Hary; 8 sisters, Thelma Seib, Sister Elizabeth Ann Koberstein, Virginia Wilzbacher, Lila Simon, Edith Baehl, JoAnn Heyer, Norma Purer and Alberta Elpers; 4 brothers, Emory, Linus, Marion, and Merle Koberstein; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Henrietta Koberstein, a brother Elmer, and great grandchild, Lillian.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 2 P.M. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton with Fr. Ronald Zgunda and Fr. Bernie Etienne, celebrants. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Princeton. Friends may visit from 4 until 8 P.M. on Sunday at Colvin Funeral Home, Princeton. Rosary Service at 7 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.

HAUBSTADT, Ind. — Ivan C. Simon, 81, of Haubstadt, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2008, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
Mr. Simon was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Knights of St. John at St. Wendel and a life member of the River Bend Association. He was employed at Whirlpool for 42 years before his retirement in 1989.
Surviving Ivan are his wife of 60 years, Lila Rose (Koberstein) Simon; five daughters and their husbands, Donna and George Rode of Paoli, Ind., Linda and Danny Kares of Evansville, Sharon and Larry Will of Boynton Beach, Fla., Elaine and Mike Will of Evansville and Barbara and Randy Damm of Evansville; and one son and his wife, Danny and Judy Simon of Haubstadt. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, Shannon, Jessica, Bruce, Cory, Amber, Eric, Kati, Sally, Philip, Diana, George III, Courtney, Michele and Jennifer; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Mr. Simon was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbur, Peter and Urban Simon, and a sister, Rosalie Keil.
Funeral services for Mr. Simon will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at St. James Catholic Church, the Rev. Kenneth Betz officiating, burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, where there will be a memorial service conducted by the church at 4 p.m. Friends may also visit with the family from 9:30 a.m. until services Wednesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. James Old School Renovation Goal or for Masses to be said for Ivan.

Haubstadt IN Virginia Catherine Wilzbacher, 85 passed away on June 26, 2017 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville surrounded by her family. She was born on February 5, 1932 in Haubstadt, the daughter of Emery Joseph and Henritta Anna (Baultman) Koberstein. She married Joseph L. Wilzbacher in June of 1950 in Haubstadt, IN and he preceded her in death. Virginia was a member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt, Daughters of Isabella, and the Alter Society of St. Peter & Paul. She was a homemaker raising 7 sons. She loved to travel with her husband, paint, play Bridge, and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by six sons, Steve (Linda) of Haubstadt, Dale (Connie) of St. Philips, Larry, David, Kevin (Carol) and Greg (Rita) all of Haubstadt; one daughter-in-law Avonne of Haubstadt; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; siblings, Emery Koberstein of Princeton, Marion (Kay) Koberstein of Princeton, Thema Seib of Princeton, Lila Simon of Haubstadt, Edith Baehl of Haubstadt, JoAnn Heyer of Ft. He served on the Haubstadt Fire Department for 25 years and on the Town Board. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, a 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of Haubstadt American Legion Post and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Virginia (Koberstein); six sons, Dale of St. Philip and Steven, Larry, David, Kevin and Greg, all of Haubstadt; three sisters, Arlene Steckler of St. James, Irma Rexing of Evansville and Rita Morris of Fort Branch; five brothers, John of Fort Branch, Eugene of Evansville, Austin and Robert, both of Haubstadt, and Gerald of Indianapolis; and 15 grandchildren. Lorene Agnes (Basham) Koberstein, 78, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014. She was born March 11, 1936 in Woodson, Illinois, the daughter of James Russell and Elizabeth (Flood) Basham. She graduated in 1954 from Memorial High School in Evansville, Indiana. Lorene married Emory Koberstein on June 7, 1958 in Haubstadt, Indiana.
Lorene was the office manager of Koberstein Trucking and 4K Enterprises for over 20 years. She enjoyed retirement with her husband of 56 years by proudly watching the growth of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also continued to be very active in her beloved St. Joseph Catholic Church community by being on the office staff.
Lorene is survived by her husband, Emory; children, Mike (Jan) Koberstein, Tim (Julie) Koberstein, Greg (Jennifer) Koberstein and Julie (Ed) Love; grandchildren, Jerad (Alex) Koberstein, Heath (Kelly) Koberstein, Nicholas and Emily Koberstein, Erin (Justin) Schmitt, Kristen and Alyssa Koberstein, Skyler and Justin Wright, and Ashley, Ben and Gabe Love; great-grandchildren, Levi and Isaiah Koberstein, Emmitt Koberstein and Owen Schmitt; and sisters, Elisabeth Williams and Carroll Knight.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Basham; and a sister, Mary Jo Heitgerd.

All of the about 600 teen-age girls stricken with food poisoning at a convention of the Sunshine Society for Girls in Crawfordsville were recovering today. Dr. Fred N. Daughterly, Montgomery County health officer, said the girls suffered the food poisoning Saturday from eating tainted ham salad sandwiches at a state convention of the society. Some 200 of the girls were treated at Culver Hospital and another 150 to 200 in tne Crawfordsville High School gymnasium where many spent the night. Another 250 girls were treated st hospitals in Grecncastle, Lafayette, Lebanon,, Frankfoil and Indianapolis when they became ill while enroute home. Others were treated in private homes. Some 1,400 other girls ate in Crawfordsville restaurants and were not affected. Authorities praised the work of physicians and volunteers, many of whom stayed on duty all Saturday night to treat and comfort the young victims. The illness was marked by severe nausea and vomiting. A total of fourteen of the girls were treated at the Putnam County Hospital where they remained over night before being released Sunday morning. This group included Wilma Beyers and Linda McDonald from Heltonville; Linda Besing. Julia Knapp, Georgia Perrin. Mary Jo Sensmeier, Laura Rosemeyer, Norma Simpson, Patricia Martin, Norma Koberstein and Marilyn Kiesel, all of Haubsted; Catherine Angermeier and Mary Steitz, of Elberseld. ..."

He was born on March 29, 1942, in Haubstadt, Ind., to Emery and Henrietta (Bultman) Koberstein. He was a partner at Koberstein Trucking Inc., where he retired in 1996 after working there for 36 years. He had lived in Princeton since 1965 moving here from Ft. Branch. Linus was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton, graduated from Haubstadt High School in 1960, was a 55 year member of Knights of St. John in Haubstadt and a member of Knights of Columbus in Princeton for 40 years.

Cornelius "Neal" S. Morris, 90, of Fort Branch, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at the River Oaks Assisted Living Complex in Princeton. Neal was born to the late Edison and Augusta (Ebrecht) Morris on March 18, 1914 in Elberfeld.
Neal was a member of the Princeton Eagles, Princeton Moose and the Haubstadt American Legion. He was retired from the Emge Meat Packing Co. and was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was of the Christian faith.
Besides his parents, he is also preceded in death by a son, Eddie Ray Morris, who passed away in 2003.
Neal is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eunis E. (Besing) Morris; a son, Roger L. Morris of Winterpark Fla.; two daughters, Loretta Koberstein of Princeton and Brenda Lewis of Fort Branch; nine grandchildren; and 21 Great Grandchildren.
Services will be conducted on Saturday, July 30, 2004 at the Stodghill Funeral Home Located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch at 2 p.m., with Rev. Sam Sterrett officiating, burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Fort Branch. Friends may call for visitation on Friday, July 29, 2004 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.   Merle was a member of the Vertical Church in Fort Branch, IN.  He was a partner in Koberstein Contracting Inc. and KobersteinSales and Rentals Inc. in Princeton, IN

  Besides his parents Merle is also preceded in death by 2 sons, Clay and Clint Koberstein, 3 brothers, Alvin, Linus, and Elmer Koberstein, and 1 sister Alberta Elpers.

  Merle is survived by his wife of 50 years, Darleen C. (Huelsman) Kobertein of Princeton, IN, 6 children, Tammie (Chris) Seibert of Washington, IN, Kim McKannon of Francisco, IN, Brett (Dee) Koberstein of Madisonville, KY, Cliff Koberstein of Princeton, IN, Todd (Terri) Koberstein of Fort Branch, IN, and Lori (Chris) Watts of Fort Branch, IN.  He is also survived by 7 sisters and 2 brothers, Thelma Seib of Haubstadt, IN, Sister Elizabeth Ann Koberstein of Oklahoma City, OK, Lila Simon of Haubstadt, IN, Edith Baehl of Haubstadt, IN, Jo Ann Heyer, Pembroke Pines, FL, Norma Purer of Littleton, CO, Emory Koberstein of Princeton, IN, Marion Koberstein of Princeton, IN, and Virginia Wilzabacher of Haubstadt, IN.  Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Steve Akins will officiate.  Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Fort Branch, IN.  Visitation will be on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home, and again from 11:00 PM until service time at the funeral home on Sunday.  Donations can be made to the Princeton Area Cancer Association or the Vertical Church in Fort Branch, IN.
