Scott Koberstein sits in his own firetruck before the 1978 parade. The truck was once part of a carnival ride, and Scott’s father, Rod, gave it steering, brakes and a gas engine. His mother, Sondra, made his goggles to complete the look.

Since 1937, the Pet and Doll Parade has invited children from around Loveland to put on their favorite costumes, leash up their animal companions and join in a parade made just for them.

This year’s annual parade, hosted by the Loveland Lions Club, is set for 3 p.m. Friday at Fairgrounds Park on South Railroad Avenue.

But before the kiddos begin to march, here are some community members’ favorite memories from Pet and Doll Parades of the past.
