Photo by Adm Proskiw Princesses in pursuit of pageantry Three young women from New Westminster are off to the Miss Canada Teen Global pageant by Lori Pappajohn - Record reporter Two Sarahs and a Candice make up the trio of Royal City girls who are taking part in the first annual Miss Canada Teen Global pageant hosted by Vancouver Global TV's Steve Darling. Sarah Wandell, 14, Sarah Koberstein, 17, and Candice Olson, 17, will take part in the pageant June 1 at Centennial Theatre in North Vancouver. The pageant showcases the girls' talents and community services and is a fundraiser for Canada's children's hospital foundations. Part of the girls' overall score is made up of the fundraising effort they do for the foundation. And half of the show's net ticket proceeds will go to the foundation. "The girls are really looking forward to the contest. They are quite excited," said Sarah Wandell's mom Susan. The girls are now looking for sponsors to help cover costs such as prizes, production, rehearsals, sashes and photo shoots. "Last week they had a brain-storming session to see how they could raise money locally," said Susan about the girls' attempt to bring in money for the children's hospital foundation. In addition, the girls are practising for the talent part of the competition. That means that Sarah Wandell is doing a lot of singing and voice lessons. She'll be singing at Irving House in May, and has sung the national anthem at Salmonbellie games. "The girls are also seeing ways they can do community service," said Susan.
