DEFOREST - Watertown's win over DeForest in the sectional semifinal Thursday was so energized and dramatic, the sectional title match against Madison West seemed anti-climactic by comparison.

The seventh-ranked Goslings breezed past Madison West in the first two games, but the Regents created some drama in the third game to make Watertown's 25-16, 25-12, 26-24 victory a little more exciting.

Watertown cruised out to a 10-2 lead in the third game, only to watch Madison West stubbornly fight back to take a 22-20 leadGoslings headed to state.

Madison West (32-12, 8-0 in the Big Eight Conference) didn't go away quietly in the third game, though. The Regents continued to dig against Watertown's booming attacks and finally found some offense out of senior outside hitters Michelle Vitale and Natalie Koberstein, who had a team-high six kills.

The Regents began the rally with a four-point service run to make it 10-6, then ran off five more points to cut the deficit to 14-12 on a spike kill and a tip kill from Koberstein.
