At least three young scientists at the fair explored wind turbines, and explained why they wouldn’t be a good fit for Barrhead. "[Wind turbines] won’t work in Barrhead because it would require a 1.5 mega watt turbine just to get enough electricity for the houses, and they cost from $3.5 to $4 million," said BES students Katelyn Hamilton and Maddie Koberstein, who teamed up for their project. They made their case to Mayor Brian Schulz who was one of a team of judges at the fair.
