Die Stadtvertretung der Stadt Ludwigslust hat auf ihrer Sitzung am 10.12.2003 beschlossen, Frau Irmgard und Herrn Kurt Koberstein entsprechend der Satzung über Ehrungen verdienstvoller Persönlichkeiten mit einer „Ehrenurkunde“ der Stadt Ludwiglust zu ehren Zimmermann - Bürgermeister Schapper - Präsident der Stadtvertretung Ludwigslust, den 16. Januar 2004 Begründung Mit der Verleihung der Ehrenurkunde anerkennt die Stadt Ludwigslust die Leistungen von Irmgard und Kurt Koberstein auf ehrenamtlichen und sozialen Gebiet. Irmgard und Kurt Koberstein wirken ihr ganzes Leben uneigennützig, waren stets für ihre Mitmenschen da und helfen, wo Hilfe nötig ist. „Erst die Anderen, dann sie selbst“ – das ist und war ihre Lebensphilosophie. An der Bildung des Behindertenverbandes in Ludwigslust haben beiden einen großen Anteil und daran, dass der Verband heute eine sehr intensive Arbeit leistet. Frau Koberstein engagiert sich seit Jahren als Vorsitzende dieses Vereins, Herr Koberstein hat viele Jahre als Mitglied im Vorstand mitgearbeitet. Sein Wirken ging so weit, dass er in seiner Freizeit eine behinderte Person aus Eldena zur Bürohilfe qualifizierte und ihr damit die Möglichkeit gab, erstmals einer bezahlten, geregelten Arbeit nachzugehen. Diese Frau ist heute noch in Arbeit. Das ehrenamtliche Engagement von Irmgard und Kurt Koberstein richtet sich auch auf die Volkssolidarität. Auch hier haben die beiden in den vergangenen Jahren das gesellschaftliche Leben im Kreis mitbestimmt. Mit Irmgard und Kurt Koberstein ehrt die Stadt Ludwigslust sehr vielseitig engagierte Bürger. Frau Koberstein ist neben ihrer Tätigkeit für die Vereine und Verbände auch als ehrenamtliche Betreuerin für Bedürftige beim Amtsgericht Ludwigslust tätig. Kurt Koberstein war Vorstandsmitglied im Kleingartenverband „Am Rennbahnweg“ und von 1992 bis 1996 Schöffe am Amtsgericht. Seit 1990 stand er der Stadt Ludwigslust mit viel Engagement für den Einsatz als Wahlhelfer zur Verfügung.
