Perry's Plumbing and Electric and Fischer Mill Supply, small retailers in Oregon, have shown considerable success in promoting CFL products. The single-store Fischer Mill Supply, with local roots back to 1889, is enticing customers to its store by offering Osram Sylvania CFLs at the promotional price of $7.99 per bulb. The retailer was stocking three different wattages at these prices through February 2001. To advertise these offers, Fischer Mill was placing monthly spots in a regional coupon-clipper newsletter that's distributed to 34,000 consumers. Once inside the store customers could find the products on end-caps in high-traffic areas. Large ENERGY STAR® header boards were located on top of each end-cap.

Perry's Plumbing and Electric has its North Bend and Roseburg stores carry a deep line of ENERGY STAR-labeled lighting products, including Maxlite and Philips products. Perry's co-op promotion was scheduled to run November 2000 through February 2001. Due to the incredible response to their advertising, both retail locations sold their entire inventory in the first two weeks of the promotion. The Program designed and produced retail ENERGY STAR header-board displays for use with end-cap displays and made sure Perry's had a stock of Program point-of-sale materials.
