| Terry,
My life recently calmed enough to check out your site again. The updates are fantastic! I wanted to amend something that was in the Professional section of the reunion. It says that I went from VA to TX as evidenced by guestbook entries. As a matter of fact, in March 2001, my family and I (Joel, Jenny and Alex) moved from Kemah, Texas back to Virginia. Right now, I am employed by the Fairfax County (VA) Fire & Rescue Department as a Firefighter/Paramedic and also work with the Fairfax County Professional Fire Fighters & Paramedics International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2068 as their Communications Director. My wife, Jenny, is a Emergency Medical Services educator with George Washington University at their Fairfax, VA campus. I hope this helps! Cheers, Joel Kobersteen

ffxfireman@verizon.net Just surfed in Alexandria, VA Fairfax County Fire & Rescue 21 May 2004 19:24:05 Great job on the site! I miss all my friends down there. Just remember Cat Daddy - That don't make you a bad person! Fire house 46 serves as a "District House" - District Chief 46 oversees stations 25, 35, 46 and 55. As one of the busiest fire stations in the City of Houston and one of the busiest in the country, Station 46 serves a variety of the populace. Surrounded mostly by residential houses and apartments, Station 46 also responds to industrial complexes and warehouses, as well as the internationally famous Texas Medical Center. Our personnel range from rookies "fresh off the tower" to veterans with 30 plus years in the fire department. Ed Note looks like Joel moved from VA to TX with this last entry.
http://www.thatguy.com/play/chuck/dachshundfeedback.html Mike, I saw your weiner dog references and figured you would get a kick outta this. I moved to Houston in November 1996 and noticed that there was a greyhound race track down the highway. Soon after that I saw a newspaper ad for The Annual Weiner Dog Nationals sponsored by Lite Beer ("Can your weiner dog do this?") at the track. So I got a couple firends together and we trekked out to see it. It was great! There were about 15 dogs trying to oust the two time champion, Bean Boy, from his title. In the end, Bean Boy took the championship for the 3rd year in a row. It was quite a sight, believe you me. Joel Kobersteen Houston, TX
Alex Kobersteen, 4, plays as his father, Joel Kobersteen, talks with Jill Young at a gathering of firefighters and their families in Fairfax County. In Va., Picnics and Politics Kerry Gatherings Aim to Invigorate Grass Roots By Maria Glod Washington Post Staff Writer Tuesday, September 7, 2004; Page B01 When a firetruck rolls out of Station 22 in Springfield, there are usually three people aboard. Firefighter and paramedic Joel Kobersteen thinks it would be safer and smarter if there were four or five, and he thinks that could happen if John F. Kerry becomes president. But Kobersteen, 32, isn't just going to vote for the Democratic nominee, he's going to try to persuade others to do the same. ... At a picnic yesterday in Fairfax County, it didn't much matter that the front porch was actually a back deck. Politics was in the air. Kobersteen ate hamburgers, potato chips and cookies and said he thinks Kerry is the right candidate for blue-collar people. He said he's going to pass that message on to firefighters, friends and anyone else who will listen. "This is just the beginning," Kobersteen said. "I'm an educator and trying to get out the truth. My big thing is, vote educated." ... Kobersteen said that he'll keep pushing for Kerry but that he's not sure how things will turn out in November. "Different people have different values," Kobersteen said. "John Kerry doesn't reflect everyone's values. He reflects mine."
