Winners named in pennant coloring contest BY ANDREA HAHN, SIUC University Communications Saturday, February 7, 2009 3:13 AM CST CARBONDALE - Friends of Southern Illinois University Carbondale submitted thousands of votes to pick the winners of the www.iheartsiu.com pennant-coloring contest. Students at elementary schools in Jackson and Williamson counties participated in the contest, vying to beat out their classmates for Saluki womens basketball tickets at the classroom and grade level per school. The Web site votes helped determine grade level winners per county. Each winner receives a classroom pizza party and other prizes. The www.iheartsiu.com Web site is for members of the Southern Illinois University Carbondale community, including current, past and potential Salukis and Saluki fans.
