| Galesburgh High School JV tennis team 6th at Moline Invite
4/1 - (MOLINE) GHS' junior varsity boys tennis team managed fourth place in number #1 singles and #2 doubles on their way to a sixth place, overall, finish in Saturday's Moline JV Invitational. Kaushik Srinivasan won his opening round match at #1, 6-3, 6-1 over David Koberstein of Rock Island, but fell to Blake Rauba of Warren in the semi-finals and Cameron Laabs of Belvidere in the third place match. The Streaks' #2 doubles team of Mike Whittle and Brandon Johnson also won their opening round match, but lost in the semi-final to Moline and in the third place match to Belvidere. At number #2 singles, Taps Jenami lost his opening round match to finalist Tyler Allen of Moline, 6(5), 6(4), 10-5. He rebounded to beat Tyler Fisher of Alleman, 6-1, 6-2, before losing to Zach Fiscella of Moline in the consolation final. At #1 doubles, the GHS duo of Austin Tracy and Paul Schlake bounced back from two losses to beat the Freeport duo, 6-0, 6-1 for seventh place. Tim Messenger and Adam McKillip too the same path at #3 doubles, winning their final match for seventh place. They beat the team from Rock Island 6-2, 6-3. |
