Robert Cecil Palmer Secondary School Address: 8160 Saint Albans Road, Richmond, British Columbia Science Open House and Science Fair Palmer held its inaugural Science Open House and Science Fair on March 8. Approximately 90 students participated in this exciting event that showcased student experiments, innovations and research. Some exciting and unique topics included the Effects of Music on Homework, Why Mentos candies cause Coke explosions, whether Soduku puzzle success is dependent on age and whether Girls have Better Memory Than Boys. There were three winners from each grade. In grade 8, the winners were Katherine Ho/Kelly Wong (1st), Jeremy Koberstein/Spencer Such (2nd) and Yan Yan Xiong/Vicky Lai. In grade 9, the winners were Samuel Chian/Natalie Suen/Ivy Wan (1st), Erik Cheng/William Lau/Charlie Liu/Connie Zhang (2nd) and Trevor Horsley (3rd). For the Grade 11 math projects, the winners were Celine Li/Tiffany Mah (1st), Cheryl Chan/Ronald Cheung (2nd) and Betty Tang/Jonathan Mok (3rd). Congratulations to all of the participants! You should all be very proud of the work that you have done. Students will be showcasing their projects at Aberdeen Mall on Thursday, March 29th from 4-7pm. Please come to view and celebrate the success of the student projects. Selected students will also be competing at the Provincial Science Fair at UBC April 10-12. Good Luck! |
